Every day some thousands of children, women and men from Venezuela are fleeing to nearby countries to seek safety from violence, insecurity, lack of food and medicine, and increasing poverty. Many of these people are vulnerable and in need of urgent protection. More than 4.6 million Venezuelans have left their homes so far, and the majority are hosted in the region. This is the biggest population movement in Latin America’s recent history and one of the largest external displacements in the world. UNHCR is on the ground responding to their needs as the numbers continue to increase unabated.

Help in protection to Families
New York City
We urgently need your help to continue providing life-saving protection to families forced to flee their homes.
IT COULD BE ANY ONE OF US Take a moment to imagine it. You wake up in the middle of the night to the sound of shouts and gunfire. The tensions you’ve tried not to worry about have tipped over into violence. Now you have no choice: you take your family, and anything you can carry, and flee for safety. Every two seconds, somewhere on the planet, someone is forced to flee. Yet too often the world views their plight with indifference, or even hostility. If we were in their shoes, how would we want to be treated? If we ended up in a refugee camp, far from home and everything we’d once known, what kind of welcome would we hope to find? What hopes for the future would we still cling to for our children? With your help, UNHCR, The UN Refugee Agency can give refugees what we’d want for ourselves and our loved ones. Shelter. Food. Water. Blankets. Medical supplies. Protection from harm. The chance to go to school and the hope of a future. But we can’t do it without the support of people like you. Please give what you can to help refugee families.

Help shape the future of our planet by contributing to Climate Central Climate change is the global challenge of our time — and the time to act is now. Working in partnership with meteorologists, journalists, and many others, we demonstrate how climate change is personal and relevant to our lives. Using localized scientific information, we show how climate change is happening here and now. With your help, we can scale our work to reach more Americans, more often, with local stories that bring climate change home.
